If all of the major components of the ID Vault service - accessing sites, PIN validation, and checking for updates - fails, there are only 2 possible scenarios:

  1. 1. Your ISP/internet connection is slow or has failed totally
  2. 2. The ID Vault software is being blocked from loading

Connection - To test your ISP connection to our servers, simply return to the Support page, and click on "Check Your Internet Connection Here." There, you can download a simple tool which will check your internet connection. If an issue is found, contact your internet service provider or network administrator.

Blocked - It is always possible that, through an update, or a change to your computer system, the ID Vault software may not be listed in the firewall or anti-virus "safe" list, and is being blocked by that part of the security software. If you have any problem in accessing a financial site, receiving update information, or your PIN validation fails, this is probably the case. In order to remedy this, make sure that the two ID Vault executable files are listed as "safe" in the anti-virus and firewall portions of the security software. The two files are:

  1. IDVault.exe
  2. IDVaultUpdate.exe

For downloads, the site is http://www.idvault.com, and this needs to be listed as "safe," as well.

Final note - Simply turning of your firewall or anti-virus software may only be a temporary fix, may not help at all, and is just not a good idea. It is also possible that an additional security utility is present, and could cause the ID Vault executables to not load. If your ID Vault system was working and suddenly is not, see if the issue coincides with an update to your computer software, or a change to your computer system. Included in the Microsoft monthly updates is the update to the Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT). It is possible for this tool to identify any number of applications using the .net framework as "malicious," and block them from loading. If you are using AVG, then it is unnecessary to use the MSRT, and it can be disabled or removed.
