If your ID Vault software, browser, or computer in general seem slow -
- Check to make sure the ID Vault software is installed AND enabled. If the ID Vault software is installed, but is not running, all browser functions will run slower than normal. Launch your web browser, go to the Tools icon, to "Manage Add-Ons," or "Add Ons," and make sure that "Guard ID MSIE Browser BHO is enabled" - return to the Support page and read the Help article on browser settings for more information.
- Check the computer memory. The ID Vault software performance is directly associated with the speed and amount of memory in the computer it is loaded on. If the computer is running out of memory, e.g. multiple applications are running simultaneously, using large amounts of memory, this could be an issue. Likewise, if virtual memory is running (the use of available hard drive storage space as random access memory) the speed of the hard drive, and available space on the drive could be an issue.
- Defragment the hard drive. If you are using the hard drive for virtual memory, and the drive is fragmented, or running out of space, your computer will slow down.
- Check the internet connection. The ID Vault service is an internet application because the transactions and passwords we protect are used on the internet. So, if your internet connection is slow, or your Internet Service Provider is having a service issue, the performance of the ID Vault service will be affected, as will the performance of any internet functions to and from your computer. Return to the Support page, and click to "Check Your Internet Connection Here," in order to download and run a connection tool.
- The software may be corrupt. Try deleting and re-installing the ID Vault software, and make sure that ID Vault is listed as "allowed" by your firewall/anti-virus application.
