The ID Vault Diagnostic Tool is an easy way to check on the four services which are necessary for the ID Vault identity theft service to function.

The tool can only return an OK or Fail result and a green bar or a red bar.

  1. Authentication Service - This test runs through the internet connection to the ID Vault authentication services, checks the authenticity of the user credentials to those in the server and returns an OK/green bar if the credentials match.
    1. Green Bar - The user/computer credentials match. The connection from the computer to the ID Vault server is functioning. This rules out a hardware, ISP, connection, or identification issue.
    2. Red Bar - The software "certificate" which identifies the computer in use to the ID Vault service is missing, corrupt, or has been blocked by an anti-virus, security, or firewall application.
  2. Security Service - This test runs through the internet connection to the ID Vault PIN (personal identification number) validation server.
    1. Green Bar - The PIN verification server is functioning. This rules out the PIN verification as an issue. However, a customer can enter an invalid or incorrect PIN, and still receive a green bar. The service may be fine and active, but the PIN may be incorrect or invalid.
    2. Red Bar - There may be an issue with the ID Vault validation service. Wait a short period of time and try the test again. If one person is receiving a red bar, multiple customers are receiving red bars, and the chances are good that the fix is in process.
  3. Product Service - This test runs through the internet connection to the ID Vault service itself. This validates that any product messaging such as subscription expiration dates, and product status can be received at the customer end.
    1. Green Bar - The path to and from the customer to the ID Vault service is functioning. This does not mean that the customer account is active - only that the service is functioning.
    2. Red Bar - The actual ID Vault service itself is not functioning. Wait a short period of time and try the test again. If one person is receiving a red bar, multiple customers are receiving red bars, and the chances are good that the fix is in process.
  4. Logging Service - This test runs through the internet connection to the ID Vault error reporting database and logs any ID Vault function errors and returns the appropriate messaging to the customer.
    1. Green Bar - The error logging service is functioning. If the client subscription is active, error reports can be generated by the ID Vault service.
    2. Red Bar - The error logging service is not functioning. However, the customer may not be aware of a problem with the error logging, since no messaging can be returned.

Note - This tool will run without any ID Vault software installed. It simply checks the "health" of the ID Vault services. Therefore, it is useful in determining issues with connection or virus/firewall services or software. If the ID Vault software is completely removed, and the tool returns one or more red bars, any issues are not related to the ID Vault software or services.
