The error codes you may see when using the ID Vault software fall into the following categories:
- IP Change or Site Issue - the site you are accessing may have changed their IP address(es) or the address does not match what is stored in our servers.
Solution - Go to the ID icon to Support to Check For Updates. If the problem persists, return to the Support home page and click to "Report A Site Issue."
- Password At Risk/Phishing Warning - The password you are using, or have stored, is being used for multiple accounts. It is a good idea to use a separate password for each account.
Solution - Change the password and recreate the ID Vault account, or click "continue" and ignore the message.
- PIN Validation Failure/SecureView Failed To Open - Something is preventing the ID Vault service from verifying the IP address of your computer, or your connection is very slow and the validation service timed out. These are usually caused by a firewall or anti-virus application.
Solution - Make sure the ID Vault software is in the "Safe" list of your firewall and anti-virus software, and that http://www.idvault.com is in the safe site list. See the "Firewall and Anti-Virus" article on the Support page for more information.
Check your internet connection by using the Service Tool from the Support page. If it generates an error, contact your internet service provider regarding the issue.
The ID Vault software needs 2 Windows components in order to function - C++ and Microsoft .net Framework v.3.0. If either of these components is missing, an error will result.
- IPC error, CLR error, .net error - if you see a long string of letters and numbers similar to 298id8-88skdkf0000-0987-98732891id something is keeping your Microsoft .net framework component from functioning, there is a .net conflict, or you do not have .net version 3.0 installed. The likely culprit is a firewall or anti-virus application.
Solution - As above - Make sure the ID Vault software is in the "Safe" list of your firewall and anti-virus software, and that http://www.idvault.com is in the safe site list. See the "Firewall and Anti-Virus" article on the Support page for more information.
If you can relate receiving the error with a change to your operating system, try to find and disable that change -
Did the problem begin after receiving a Microsoft Update? If so, restore your system to a point prior to the update and find the offending update.
Did the problem begin after receiving an update to your anti-virus application? If so, remove and reinstall the ID Vault software so it is in the updated anti-virus application.
In some circumstances, it may be necessary to remove and reinstall your Microsoft .net Framework, if it has become corrupted due to an update or install. For instructions, return to the Support page, go to the ID Vault Frequently Asked Questions and Answers, and type in the keyword: .net.
- C++ or Runtime error - If you are using the Vista 64-bit operating system, you *must* have the C++ x86 redistributable component installed on your computer.
Solution - Check the Programs list of the "Add or Remove Software" control panel with Windows XP, or the "Programs and Features" control panel with Windows Vista and see if the correct version of C++ is installed. If not, go to the ID Vault Frequently Asked Questions and Answers, and use the keyword, "C++" for instructions to download.
The ID Vault software is a "Managed Add On" to your web browser (BHO - or browser helper object) and is very reliant on the functioning of your browser for the "Other" accounts to work. If your browser has issues, so will the ID Vault software.
- HTTP Errors 400, 404, 500, etc
Solution - Use your Internet Options control panel to "delete temporary internet files," and change your browser settings to "Every Time I Visit/View The Page."
- BHO/Managed Add-On Error - Go to the Tools menu for your browser, to Managed Add-Ons, and make sure that ID Vault is Enabled as a managed add-on.
