Guard ID Systems Names Marketing Executive

Industry Veteran Joins Leading Provider of Security Hardware that Protects Consumers when They Bank, Shop and Invest Online

SAN MATEO, Calif. - May 30, 2007 - Guard ID Systems, Inc., the pioneer of hardware-based security for online transactions, today announced the appointment of Greg Marek to the position of vice president of marketing.

Marek has nearly 20 years of experience building new product categories and has managed top-selling brands in consumer technology including: Intuit's Quicken and QuickPay, Intuit's first small business product; the Quattro Pro spreadsheet from Borland; Berkeley Systems' After Dark screen saver franchise and its category-creating PC game, You Don't Know Jack; and the category-leading STUDIO line of consumer digital video editing solutions from Pinnacle Systems.

"Greg has an impressive track record of successfully launching innovative consumer technology products, building new technology product categories, and reaching broad consumer audiences with creative marketing that works," said Jerry Thompson, CEO of Guard ID Systems. "I'm thrilled to have someone of Greg's caliber join our team to drive our 2007 marketing plans and to play a leading role in creating great products for our customers."

Marek led the marketing team of Pinnacle Systems, where he built the home video editing category with the top-selling STUDIO line of consumer products. Prior to Pinnacle Systems he led marketing at Berkeley Systems, maker of the beloved "After Dark" screen savers, best known for the "flying toasters." While at Berkeley Systems, Marek launched a new category of multi-player PC games with "You Don't Know Jack," a quiz-show-style game featuring a sarcastic "host." "You Don't Know Jack" gained cult status and went on to sell several million units. "You Don't Know Jack Online," an online version of the game, was one of the first PC games to transition successfully to the Internet. Earlier in his career, Marek worked at Intuit, where he launched QuickPay and QuickInvoice, Intuit's first small business products, and the precursors to Intuit's successful QuickBooks product. While at Intuit, Marek launched the very first retail merchandising program for Quicken and also worked on Intuit's highly successful direct response television advertising, the first of its kind in the software industry.

Marek began his marketing career at Oracle Corporation as part of the team that launched the first generation of Oracle Financial and Oracle Manufacturing applications. He also led marketing efforts at NetScaler, a start-up that pioneered application performance and security solutions. NetScaler was acquired by Citrix Systems in 2005 for more than $300 Million.

Marek earned a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Sciences, with distinction, from Stanford University.
