White Sky Debuts Online Id Theft Protection On The Go With New Id Vault Portable Edition

ID Vault Portable Edition delivers strongest online ID protection yet from any computer for secure access anytime, anywhere

San Mateo, Calif., March 18, 2010 - White Sky, Inc. today debuted ID Vault Portable Edition, a portable version of its flagship, award-winning ID Vault identity protection software. Widely lauded as the most effective solution available today for protecting consumers against the increasingly ubiquitous, complex online ID theft threats, ID Vault Portable Edition will allow users to securely access their online accounts from virtually any Windows-based computer, no matter where they are. ID Vault provides protection from the PC to the financial institution and everything in between, thwarting threats including bank Trojans, phishing attacks, and man-in-the-middle attacks that can compromise online banking, investing and shopping.


"As mobility becomes the new norm in computing today - approximately 30 percent of banking, investing and shopping is done outside of users' primary computers - we feel it's critical to offer our customers the ability to port ID Vault to any computer so that they are protected no matter where they are," according to David Watkins, CEO of White Sky.


ID Vault Portable Edition is available in the form of a software download that can be loaded onto any flash drive. Once installed, ID Vault provides single-click, secure sign-on to any password-protected online accounts, eliminating exposure to online fraud through its end-to-end, continuously updated protection. Two-factor authentication is used to match the user's PIN with the device ID, and if successful, a protected key is sent down to unlock the user's credentials on the flash drive. ID Vault runs in a secure, environment, providing protection even if the PC or the network has been compromised. When users unplug Portable Edition from the machine, no trace of the application or user information is left behind. All of the users' credentials are securely stored on the flash drive and are accessible only when the flash drive is plugged in and the correct ID Vault PIN is entered.


The product is built on a fully integrated, easy-to-use, three tier protection architecture that no other product can match:

  1. ID Vault stores all account user names and passwords in a highly encrypted, secure software vault on the flash drive. This data is accessible only via a user-defined PIN, which is authenticated by White Sky servers, providing true two-factor authentication. ID Vault automates the sign-in procedure, protecting consumers from Trojans, key-logging, screen scraping and other attacks.
  2. White Sky's proprietary ID Vault Trusted Network continually monitors a "white list" of over 8,000 trusted and verified financial and e-commerce web sites. When consumers open a site using ID Vault, they cannot be redirected nor have their credentials submitted to fraudulent sites.
  3. ID Vault's SecureViewª safety browser is used to open financial and shopping sites, protecting against malicious plug-ins and other browser-based threats. SecureView provides a safe connection for consumers' online transactions.

Availability and Pricing
ID Vault Portable Edition will be available on www.idvault.com beginning mid-April, 2010 for $49.95. The product supports an unlimited number of online accounts and credit cards, and works on the Windows XP®, Windows VistaTM and Window 7 operating systems, and Firefox 2.0 or Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher.
