Guard ID Systems Names Leading Cyber Security and Internet Threat Expert to Board of Advisors
SAN MATEO, Calif. – January 29, 2008 – Guard ID Systems, Inc., the pioneer of hardware-based security for consumer online transactions, today announced that Stuart McClure, a foremost authority on digital threats, has joined its board of advisors.
"Stuart brings more than two decades of technology leadership, as well as in-depth knowledge of all things security-related, to our board of advisors,” said Jerry Thompson, CEO of Guard ID Systems. "His in-depth knowledge of new and emerging Internet threats will help ensure that Guard ID offers the best Internet security for our customers.”

At McAfee, McClure was Senior Vice President of Global Threats and Research, where he was responsible for all of McAfee’s detection signatures, including antivirus and malware, intrusion detection, and vulnerability management. While at McAfee, McClure led AVERT (AntiVirus Emergency Response Team), a team of more than 140 engineers and researchers, to industry acclaim.
Prior to McAfee, McClure was the founder, president and chief technology officer of Foundstone, a network security company. Foundstone was acquired by McAfee in 2004. McClure previously held leadership positions at Ernst & Young and at a number of government agencies.
McClure has published hundreds of articles and several successful books about security, including “Hacking Exposed: Network Secrets and Solutions,” the best-selling security title ever published, which has been translated into more than 30 languages. He also was a regular contributor to Infoworld Magazine, where he founded and wrote the “Security Watch” column.
McClure earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and he holds ISC2 CISSP, Novell CNE and CheckPoint CCSE certifications.
